Last week confirmed that not much remains of the Honda Classic aside from the native wildlife. In the past two years, the reliable test of PGA National’s has undergone a change in sponsor, but more notably a setup change that allowed a record low final score and a 59 to boot. Unfortunately, the neutering of Jack’s infamous “Bear Trap” is just another travesty in the growing blandness of PGA tour events.
It’s a good thing then that the API and Players bring tidings of major championships on the horizon. Hold onto your hats, because we are firmly entering “Defending Champion Scottie Scheffler” season. In addition to watching out for a second historic run from Scottie, Xander should also be returning from a rib injury this week, so I will be thoroughly more impressed if a Highsmith or Bridgeman appears atop the leaderboard.

On a personal note, it is finally warm enough here in Ohio to put the simulator away and get out on real courses again, and all I have to say is… I hope the TGL follows suit.
